HOW TO: Build An Athlete’s Brand

May 16, 2022  Published by

It’s simply not enough any longer to be the best in your sport (or chosen career). With the advent of social media and the 24 hour news cycle, being the best needs to be supplemented with power branding.

Our Sports and Entertainment agent, Claudia Cusano, breaks down four top tips on how to grow your personal brand to appeal to a mass audience and to catch the attention of brands.

  1. POINT OF DIFFERENCE

Distinguish yourself from other athletes in your sport and those with a similar talent profile. Find what makes you stand out from the rest and capitalize on it!

  1. SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE

Being on social media is a no brainer. But being on social media and utilizing it properly are two different things. Make sure that you are on multiple channels, ensure that you are consistently and frequently posting engaging content on all channels, and interact with your audience through the use of lives and other platform features.

  1. EDUCATE

Create educational content around your sport and niche. This will create engagement with your current followers, attract new followers, and set yourself apart as a thought leader in your community.

  1. PUBLICIZE

You’re more than athlete, you’re a whole person with a history and a story to tell. Make press contacts and share your story through a variety of channels: print, television, podcasts, YouTube, and more. The opportunities are endless!
